Edward O. Thorp is the legendary mathematician who invented quantitative investing, card-counting, and the first wearable computer. Today he discusses how he used mathematics to win at blackjack, some of the tricks casinos employed to try and thwart his methods, and how he created the first wearable computer in order to beat  casinos at roulette. Then he reveals how he used his math skills to become one of the best hedge fund mangers in the world, why he sees Wall Street as the biggest casino of all, and why he’s skeptical of the so called "wisdom of markets." Plus Ed Thorp shares how he figured out Bernie Madoff was a con man, his calculations on the 2016 election, and his odds on whether there’s an afterlife.

Kevin Rudd served twice as Australian Prime Minister as well as Foreign Minister and is currently the President of The Asia Society Policy Institute. He offers his perspective on the strangely confrontational phone conversation between President Donald Trump and Mr. Rudd’s successor as Prime Minister Malcomb Turnbull. He also discusses Trump’s exit from the Trans-Pacific Partnership, what this means for the other partner nations including Australia, and what a new Pacific trade bloc with China might look like. We talk about Trump’s Florida holiday with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, his sudden embrace of the "One China Policy," and a wide range of security issues from a Nuclear North Korea to China’s man-made islands in the South China Sea. Plus how to throw a boomerang.

Legendary Republican political strategist Roger J. Stone, Jr. has been called “the lord of mischief,” “the master of rightwing political hit-jobs,” and “the most dangerous man in America.”  Stone and his political trickery played an integral role in the elections of Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, and George H.W. Bush, as well as George W. Bush’s victory during the 2000 Florida recount. He was also instrumental in the 2016 win of his friend of 40 years Donald Trump. He writes about it in his new book The Making of the President 2016: How Donald Trump Orchestrated a Revolution.

Today Roger Stone recounts his crash course in underhandedness on the Nixon campaign, his first introduction to Donald Trump through mob-attorney Roy Cohn, and the moment years ago when he knew Trump was serious about running for President. He also addresses allegations that he was involved in the Russian email hacks that brought down Hillary Clinton and he accuses someone in the “deep state” of poisoning him in an attempt to silence Roger Stone once and for all. Plus Roger’s Inauguration fashion tips.

Conservative author and radio host Hugh Hewitt has what he has described as an “unusual relationship” with President Donald Trump. He interviewed Trump 15 times during the 2016 election and was a panelist on 4 of the Presidential debates, and now Hugh Hewitt draws his personal experience with the President and his service for two previous Republican Presidents in a new book called The Fourth Way: The Conservative Playbook for a Lasting GOP Majority.

Today, he comes on the show to share what the “4th Way” is as well as his suggestions for President Trump’s proposed infrastructure program and why he says Trump should approach immigration the way Nixon approached China. He’ll discuss why he opposes overhauling the tax code and why he’s for Trump’s plan for a 350 ship navy. Hugh Hewitt also explains why Trump must implement the “4th Way” quickly, or he could risk losing the GOP majority in Congress and perhaps even impeachment.

If you enjoyed today’s episode then you can order Hugh Hewitt’s book The Fourth Way: The Conservative Playbook for a Lasting GOP Majority on Amazon or download the audio version for free through a special offer for our listeners at www.audibletrial.com/kickassnews. The Hugh Hewitt Show airs 5 mornings a week and is syndicated to over 120 stations on the Salem Radio Network.  You can find your local station or download the Hugh Hewitt app at www.HughHewitt.com and follow Hugh Hewitt on twitter at @HughHewitt.

Amazon is telling the story of Zelda and F. Scott Fitzgerald through Zelda’s eyes in the new television series Z: The Beginning of Everything which stars Christina Ricci and David Hoflin as the original “IT” couple.

Today, David Hoflin talks about filling the shoes of America’s most iconic author, the often disfunctional relationship between Scott and Zelda, and their cautionary tale about getting too much, too soon. Then I talk with the executive producers and creators of Z: The Beginning of Everything Nicole Yorkin and Dawn Prestwich. They talk about what attracted them to Zelda’s POV, they weigh in on whether F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “borrowing” of his wife’s words amounts to plagiarism, and whether Zelda’s husband may have contributed to her steady descent into madness. Plus Nicole shares memories of her father - legendary TV producer Bud Yorkin.

Watch the first season of Z: The Beginning of Everything with a subscription to Amazon Prime. For more information visit www.amazon.com and search Z: The Beginning of Everything. Also be sure to check out Dawn and Nicole’s brilliant show The Killing on AMC.
